Italian Pietra Dura Mosaic
- 1950-1960
- 10 x 8 inches
- Fine Art Category: paintings
- Medium: Pietra Dura - marble and semi-precious stone
- Origin: Italy
- Signed: Signed verso
- Comments:
On offer is a beautiful mid-century plaque from the Menegatti workshop in Florence, signed A. Menegatti to the reverse (for Alberto Menegatti).
Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or repairs noted to the work, and only normal wear to the frame, commensurate to its age and use.
It measures 10.0 x 8.25 inches framed, and 6.625 x 5.25 inches by sight.
The Menegatti atelier is known to have implemented several Richard Blow designs, principally in the 1950’s, for various Montici pietra dura plaques. The stone selection and composition of this watermelon piece under their own signature is, to our eyes, at the top of the dozens of watermelon examples we have seen, including the three known sliced watermelon Monticis.
Please feel free to contact us for any additional photos or information. We have dealt in quality pietre dure for over 15 years, with a specialty in the works of Richard Blow, for Montici, and we guarantee the quality and authenticity of all our offered works.
