The description from the artist is as follows: Portrait of John Charles Thomas, my friend and former school chum at Conway Hall (1908-1909). In the picture the curtain is drawn back a little and reveals Conway Hall not so very far in the distance. Thomas was the outstanding singer at Conway as well as a most likable fellow.
