About the Artist:
Rodney is a British artist that was born and raised in the north west region of England. His passion for art started in his mid-thirties and he has experimented with several styles before settling into abstracts in his 50’s.
His background and education is engineering where technical drawing was used as an early creative outlet and so painting came along later in life and he has taught himself to paint through trial, error and passion.
His key inspiration is Gerhard Richter but other influences include Anthony Gormley for the emotional connection that his works inspire, Mark Rothko, Sean Scully and Patrick Heron.
Whilst his work is listed as abstract, Rodney is driven by a desire to produce works that carry a direct narrative and the idea that something as simple as a painting on a wall can carry the possibility of switching a persons mindset from the negative to the positive through mindfulness or imagery that can evoke a sense of calm.
About Artwork:
This work depicts the symbolic image of the heart but it’s been broken down into 40 shapes to represent a heart that has been broken and it shows the 13 blood vessels that connect it to the body.
This heart is a heart that is in the process of healing itself over time.
Whether it’s through the loss of someone we love such as bereavement, betrayal or a personal setback, the emotion of that event can break us and leave a deep hurt.
This work imagines that healing process projected onto canvas but attempts to switch a persons mindset from one of negative thoughts to positive ones where they can visualise that they are in a healing state that will take time.
This work was 1 of 2 produced both last year with the other one consisting of 30 fragment and deeper at 48” with dark gray as it’s main colour and different colours used.

Artwork Details:
Canvas - Belle Arti 398gsm medium fine cotton canvas
Medium - Acrylic Paint
Method with this work - I painted onto the bare primed canvas using several layering techniques.
Canvas Size - 77” x 41” overall but this is oversized and allows for it to be wrapped onto a 1.5” deep stretcher frame, so the edges form part of the painting.
Stretcher Frame - This work will be stretched onto a 72” x 36” frame to enable to be ready to hang but you would need to supply your own fixing arrangement to suit your wall.
Packaging - Canvas Artwork - wrapped in 4mm foam followed by several layers of bubble wrap where it will be sat in a softwood timber crate which will screw fix for extra robustness and security and sent to the courier. You would need a Philips screwdriver to unpack the crate.
Postal Costs - Included
Varnish - Generally I don’t tend to varnish a canvas but this can be done at no extra cost with 2 coats but please allow an extra delivery period of 4 days.
Certificate of Authenticity - posted separately following the 2 week returns period.
Returns Period - 2 weeks from postage, buyer would need to pay return postage costs.
Certificate of Authenticity - sent to buyer following returns period.
