Roland Fischer lives and works between Beijing and Munich, often traveling to photograph his remarkable facades at locations around the world .
Roland Fischer occupies an important position in the art of the late 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. From 1980 he was the first to experiment with large-format portraits of young German photographers, giving photography a new image. His subjects are man and the places of his existence. Today, the artist Roland Fischer is deeply anchored in our global world. His studios in Munich and Beijing, but also his galleries in the USA and Europe illustrate this. The exhibition in the Saarland.Museum brings together a comprehensive and weighty work that also addresses the globality of our civilization.
Roland Fischer's artwork has been exhibited worldwide. Solo museum exhibitions of his work include a major retrospective at the Saarlandmuseum in Saarbruecken; Palais des Beaux Arts de Lille in France; and Galeria Presenca in O Porto, Portugal.
