  • Golden Pavilion artwork by Veda Ng - art listed for sale on Artplode

About Artist:

Veda is a Hong Kong artist who is currently based in Germany. She spent the better part of her teenage years studying in the UK and graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.

As a painter, Veda aspires to use art to preserve Asian cultures and revive traditional art-making techniques, such as embroidery and gold-leafing. While embroidery is commonly known as a handicraft and is usually seen on textiles, Veda sews directly on paper, making the thread an indispensable part of her compositions.

She works primarily with watercolour, thread, gold leaf, acrylic and occasionally ink.

About Artwork:

Upon seeing the young lady in kimono at the Golden Pavilion in the Kita district of Kyoto, Japan, I was drawn to her composure and excitement of wearing the beautiful gown.

The translucence of the watercolour highlights the brilliant colours of the kimono while threads of varying lengths create the sky. My work celebrates the beauty of existing in the present moment.
