About Artist:
Vebjorn Sand, born March 11, 1966, is a Norwegian painter and artist, known for his paintings as well as his public arts projects, such as the Da Vinci Project, and the Kepler Star monument (Norwegian Peace Star) at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen Vebj?rn Sand has a burning desire to get us humans to see, and perhaps most, to wake up from indifference, never to forget important events in our close history. Vebj?rn has even stated that one of the instruments he has used to lure the viewer into the images is comparable to German propaganda. Impressionistic instrument that gives an impression of idyll and gusto. You think you can get into a world that's good. The reality is something completely different.
The famous American art critic Donald Kuspit describes the Sands imagery as a tremendous feat from a picturesque perspective. But as important as the purely technically picturesque achievement, Vebj?rn's images are important in the way that they remind the modern audience of something they are about to forget; That one cannot bypass the story just because one has become fashionable. Sands wonderful paradox is that he makes the story alive and topical to us ? not as a mechanical past we think we no longer have to deal with, but a topical narrative all generations must deal with.
