About Artist:
Agni Zotis is a multi-disciplinary artist exploring human emotions and the nature of transformation. Agni studied art at Hunter College, anatomy at the Art Students League and apprenticed with a Serbian monk, learning the ancient techniques of Byzantine Iconography. She has traveled extensively all over the world, examining archaic cultures, their views and rituals. From 2004 to 2009 she ran her own gallery, the Agni Gallery, in the East Village in NYC. She is the recipient of numerous fellowships, including the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Grant and the Artists Fellowship. She has also been featured in various documentaries, including “Life Without Compromise” by Suzan Al-Doghachi. She is of Greek heritage and grew up, lives and works in NYC.
