This is a mint condition, 16 x 20 inch sheet size, Pearl surface Cibachrome print, made in 1986 by Alex Webb and gifted to me a few years later. I have a signed letter of authentification from Mr. Webb and can also have him otherwise personally confirm the authenticity of the print and my legal ownerhip of it.
The condition of the print is flawless, it has spent most of its life in dark storage, in an archival overmat in a flat-file cabinet. There is a very limited number of these print sizes, in Mr. Webb's correspondence to me, he estimates between 6 and 10 copies maximum. The current market price was recently set by the Etherton Gallery at AIPAD events, where this same image - and others by Webb of very similar vintage, size and substrate (vintage Cibachrome) also sold for $7,500.
This image has been widely published and has appeared in two of Mr. Webb's monographs; originally in Under A Grudging Sun (Thames & Hudson, 1989) and later published by the Aperture Foundation, in the 30-year retrospective of Mr. Webb's work, The Suffering of Light. (2011)
