About Artist:
“I use the acrylic medium and I paint in the style of abstract realism, using the canvas as a pictorial space to express my obsessions with the different psychological states of the mind. In particular, those of the diminished consciousness that drift between dream and reality, so as to tell a story from within those deep, and often dark places. I find a delicate, soft, and beautiful existence in the solitary shadows that lay hidden in our worlds. Whether they are secrets hidden, forgotten, or abandoned, I express these silent tableaus from the mind and elsewhere, in my work. Hopefully, they will touch another soul who views my artwork and take them to a place where they may go through sentiments of sorrow, hope, loneliness, euphoria, silence, serenity, chaos, or darkness. I pride myself in allowing the reader to visually syphon and draw out an interpretation for their own selves for each painting, while enjoying all the thoughts, inspiration, and psychological feelings that I have put into it myself. Thus, sharing the meanings of my art pieces with the viewers.“_Andrea Ng
Andrea Ng is a visual artist and pianist born and raised in Downtown Toronto. A self taught artist nurtured by private art tutors around the Toronto area, Andrea enjoyed a passion for painting since childhood, where pencil drawing created her first window into the visual arts. Private lessons in charcoal, oil, pastel and acrylic, furthered her ability to self express. At a young age, Andrea Ng’s artwork was exhibited at the Toronto City Hall and the Harbour Front. As well, she had learned and enjoyed creative arts through wood/lino-cut print making and felt crafting. After leaving the art scene to complete her studies in the Sciences (Chemistry), as well as English Literature and Gender studies, Andrea returned to expression through the visual arts in 2011 and works in acrylic paintings, crafting in felt, and wood cuts.
