About Artwork:
The owner of the Hotel Tharroe of Mykonos and I were sitting on the terrace by the pool sipping Ouzo, and musing on the sexual ambiguity of the island's night time scene. We were thinking about what my next piece might be. Joking, we spoke about the Minotaur, and his origins, which were the result of a tryst the Minoan queen had with the King's favorite bull.
"What if this happened more than once, and Minotaur had a sister?" I said. And this was the begining of an adventure.
The piece was roughed out in my studio in Italy, and then I rented a flatbed to take it to Greece. I wanted it to be seen, and it was. The boat to Greece had three spots for trucks that were visible from the bar, and I reserved one of them. Imagine going to Greece on a boat, perhaps for the first time, and looking out the window and seeing a Minotaur on a flatbed! Once in Greece, I final carved by the swimming pool, interupted only by guests, who were curious about how a sculptor came to be working on a piece this size, by the pool of their hotel. I live for such experiences, start to finish, and they're always an adventure.
