About Artwork:
Glimpse is a painting I spent majority of my time during my senior year. The idea of this painting comes from one of my watercolor paintings. When I was sophomore, I started to create the fantasy landscape. Based on my watercolor piece, the composition of Glimpse is more complicated. There are much more elements and the overlap. This makes the context rich and depth. The still life section in the front part is from my sketch book. I did a lot of sketches in my studio. I want to use this elements to represent my college life. I spent a large amount of time in the studio every day; therefore, my studio space could reflect my personality. As the whole context of my thesis, the top part is the fantasy, which contrasts the bottom of my art piece representing realism. I used bridges as elements to create the movement and also to connect the fantasy and realism parts. Also, the color pattern also shows the differences between fantasy and realism. The colors in the fantasy part are more vibrant; this builds a surrealist phenomenon. In contrast, the colors in the realist part are more organic. There are so many objects in this painting. This will help to attract the audience.
