ARTIST STATEMENT

I’ve spent most of my life observing the aesthetic – people, nature, products, fashion, architecture…everything. It is the critical function of a designer and artist. Both a subconscious and conscious research tool, as well as a critical method of “measurement” – for style, performance, quality and desire. It’s this life-long demand for the elegant aesthetic that has trained me to look – and to see – detail and pattern in objects that might otherwise go unnoticed or hidden by the combination (or concert) of their surroundings.

About Artwork:

“Engine Room” – From the Ferrari 430 Series

Engine Room was one of my earliest pieces and is still one of my favorites. I was intrigued by the molded panels inside the engine bay of the aggressive Ferrari 430 – a car that is a rolling testament to Ferrari’s legacy of performance and style. But what I found was a soft and elegant series of details, colors and reflections that combined to make this abstract and graphic piece that sums up the driving force of my art: to see beauty in details that are so often overlooked, yet can make such a powerful visual statement. Equally important to me is that a viewer does not have to have any interest in cars (or Ferraris) to see the beauty and be absorbed by the images I create – in fact, most of the time, viewers have no idea what the subject matter is.
