About Artist:

Edwin (1969) is born, living and working near Maastricht. He is a contemporary Dutch artist and inventor.

Edwin's paintings and photographs show erotic, sensual, warm and seductive beauties that reveal stories that he wants to share.

His nudes represents the essence, without garment and make-up: just how you are. Exactly this he wants to tell you with his artworks: bringing you in motion to be your pure and beautiful self, your naked truth! For people, however, for women in special.

All his artworks are different, however, they are always spicy and sensual.

In his work, paintings and photographs of theatrical scenes, Edwin’s muses play an act of power, seduction and temptation. All acts together form a play where Edwin reveals stories.

Edwin masters both painting and photography as you can see back in the way he composes his artworks. He reveals the expression of the skin and he accents the female curves as a pleasant melody. His use of high-contrast, dramatic but beautiful light places his models in the spotlights. According to Edwin, this is the place that women deserve. By her attitude, her tender silky skin and her shapes, every woman has the intrinsic ability to pull her strings in her game of seducion and powerplay. It is his intention that his muses inspire you. Women can be fatally attractive, sexy but classy, dominant but allowing a dance with an appropiate partner, playful but elegant, mysterious but always in control.

Edwin paints preferably with tempera and oilpaint, accordingly to the Old Masters' techniques. For him, this is a practical and aesthetical choice, since these techniques depict the texture and colour of the skin the most realistic. For this reason, he makes his own tempera and oilpaint using genuine pigments. Because he holds a BSc in chemistry, he can purchase them to use them in his paintings.

His works were exhibited in Maastricht, Miami, Barcelona, London, Venice, Knokke and Amsterdam. Works of him are part of collections in Maastricht, Aix-en-Provence, Oxford, London, Genk and Sittard-Geleen. He has gallery representation by Maurice Knops Fine Art in Sittard-Geleen.

About Artwork:

This artwork is part of Edwin's Série Seinsuelle.

Seinsuelle is a portemanteau of "seins" and "elle", which means bossom and she respectively. This painting is the start of an unique collection about the power of feminine shapes. The paintings are characterised by close-ups of the feminine body showing their natural pure beauty.

The black, white and red colour theme is consciously chosen to symbolise the power of sensuality with which every woman can play her game of temptation and seduction. Also aesthetically, the colour combination works pleasant, sensual and provides it with a contemporary feel.

In this painting, the model is placed in the centre of confidence and sensuality. She has her hands on the top of her legs with a posture of strong self-confidence.

The painting is made with egg tempera and oilpaint on quarterly sawn oak and framed in a on the painting tailored handmade frame from the famous Atelier of Gregor's Lijsten (NL, Spankeren)
