About Artist:

We live on an island, thirty minutes by ferry from Seattle.   Most days, fair weather or foul, I walk down to a stony   beach on Puget Sound.  A marsh lies behind the beach.   Promontories to the right and left frame a distant view of Mount Rainier.  Each visit feels unique.  While wholly   familiar, the place is never the same.

About Artwork:

Autumn; late afternoon; low tide; calm wind and water.       Sky nearly cloudless; gulls by the water's edge; seaweed from a recent storm.  On this day and in this light, an   ordinary scene struck me as extraordinary.  I shot photos     in twenty directions.

Details on the right are taken from Cezanne's The Gulf of Marseilles seen from L'Estaque, oil on canvas, c. 1885.
