About Artist:
Hk McAllister grew up in the Southern California high desert. Hk always felt close to nature and animals and loved stories, mythology, and the dream world. During college is when Hk began painting and recording dreams. These interests lead to a move to Esalen in Big Sur, California during the early years of the Human Potential movement. Eventually, entering into the field of Archetypal Psychology with a Ph.D. in Psychology, immersing deep into the works of C.G. Jung and James Hillman.
Hk is married to a Native American and Cape Verdean descent. Having participated in Native American spirituality and having a great respect and appreciation for African culture, Hk’s art embodies the dream world, ancient culture and soul.
Valuing soul in life and the sacred Imagination, Hk feels that modern society has lost contact with the Feminine Principle through a fascination with material gain that leads to the exploitation of nature and each other.
Hk’s paintings are derived from emotions and dreams and express archetypal themes that underlie and inform all the dramas of our daily lives.
