About Artist:
Jean Urbain Guerin (1761-1836) was one of three of the best miniaturists during his time. Most of the famous historical figures in France (and probably the world) during that time sat for him. He came from a family of well-known artists, but no family member ever matched Jean's mastery or attained the French Master status that he attained and maintains to this day.
Guerin lived during a peak historical period for France - Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, the French Revolution, Marquis de Lafayette, and the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte - and had the advantage of friendship with all of them, resulting to a wealth of famous people.
