Aisumasen I'm Sorry, a limited edition serigraph, was originally drawn as a sketch in 1979 as part of the 'Dakota Days series', referencing drawings made from their New York apartment known as 'The Dakota' during the period 1973 to 1980. The serigraph is printed by hand and uses a silkscreen to reproduce fine lines and colours of the artwork. The drawing depicts John and Yoko sit back to back, touching, gaining strength from each other. Tears fall from Yoko's eyes. Johns look registers sadness and introspection. This drawing bears their souls to one another and to us. They sit exposed to the world, their emotions visible in their faces. Two people who are able to love and wise enough to know when to say "I'm sorry". The sketch draws inspiration from an earlier song written in 1973 I'm sorry (Aisumasen), where John Lennon is saying sorry for the pain he caused to Yoko Ono. Colour now completes the drawing where the sun shines and the clouds roll away the mists of pain. The colours surrounding the sketch were selected by Yoko Ono.
This limited edition fine art print is authenticated by the embossed printer and publisher's mark, Yoko Ono Lennon's hand-signature in pencil and John's personal chop mark (patented stamp).
