About Artwork:
This painting is part of a series of paintings entitled "Plumage". It is the largest and the most viral painting by far of this series. The painting is actually two pieces that are attached together in the back but can be separated for easier shipping and/or transportation.
The bird paintings that comprise this show are a twofold configuration of elements from the avian and human world. Each diptych strives to establish parallels between two seemingly disparate entities. Female form, figure and face join with plumed bird bodies in narrative discourse. Each panel operates as a system of colorful dots and dashes that seek to create a union between the formal elements of design and those emerging from content and symbolism. It is my hope that these pairings hint at a dialogue that exists between the observed and the imagined, between myth and reality, between bird and body.
