About Artist:
Maxine Caprioli- Hight was born in Staten Island, NYC. At a very young age her passion for Art and wildlife became evident. She began to paint in oils at the age of ten. Maxine then studied Commercial Arts in college and worked as a freelance artist for a few years. She then was introduced to the world of Professional Picture Framing and Art Restoration which she perused for over 30 years. Moving west with her two sons?after the death of her young husband, she opened a Gallery of her own. This had been her life's ambition, along with creating and selling her Art.
Now living in the West the true metamorphose took place. Maxine began traveling to Montana and engaging in professional art workshops. This was the turning point in her artistic skills. For the next eight years, Maxine studied with the "Masters of Today". Individuals such as Carl Brenders, Dan Smith, John Seerey-Lester, Paco Young, John Banovich and more. She then began to enter competitions and winning awards for her works. One of her biggest honors was having several miniature paintings chosen to be entered in an International Miniature Art Exhibit at the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C . Another honor was being selected to paint the 2007 Reno Rodeo Poster, just to name a few.
Maxine and her husband now live in "Cowboy" country, Fallon, NV. Fallon has a very rich heritage of Native American and Cowboy culture. This is where she gleans ideas for her Art. Surrounded by mountains, wild mustangs, wildlife, livestock, Cowboys and Indians there is always inspiration for a new painting. Maxine says "the beauty that surrounds me has to surface and the only way I can convey it accurately is thru my paintings. I am a "Painter", what I paint comes from within me, what I feel, see and touch. That is what you are buying, not art, but a piece of my vision."?
About Artwork:
Native American Pow Wows take place quite often in various parts of the Western United States.? Maxine was invited by a friend affiliated with the Paiute/Shoshone Tribe in Fallon, NV.
One little boy, Koipa, which means Big Horn Sheep in Paiute, was dancing to the native drums. His Regalia was handmade by his parents. Koipa never missed a beat, he was entranced in the dance.
After viewing this spiritual event, Maxine knew in her heart that this moment had to be preserved for all time.
