About Artist:

Norma Picciotto was born in Milan, where she lives and works. In 1973, she cofounded the De Bellis photoagency: one of the best-known photojournalism agencies in Milan, taking press photos for the major magazines and newspapers. Alongside her work as a photojournalist she obtained the Italian representation of some of the most important European and American photojournalism agencies and in 1991 she strike a deal with the agency France Press Photo, the most advanced in the technological field, and for the first time, imported in Italy journalistic photos from all over the world in digital format. In the 2000s she decided to devote herself to art photography and creates works in digital which represents her inner emotions. She began to travel and photograph places and people all around the world, no longer connected with journalistic events, but discovering and expanding individual details representing atmospheres and lifestyles.

Norma Picciotto’s images unite the world and the look on it, they venture into the time of memory merging shapes and colours of nature, of landscape, of objects. Artworks find a binding symbol in the recurring figure of the circle: devoid of angles and edges, it represents harmony, the concentration of energy, the fusion of intellectual and spiritual dimensions, the sky in relation to the earth, the eternal return of cyclical time. In this way, photography becomes a tool capable of questioning reality and also of moving, evoking memories and inviting to meditation.
