About Artist:
A graphic artist Sonya Borisova is just 21. She was born and lives in Moscow. She is studying Advertising and Public Relations at Russian State University for the Humanities, but for some time now she has had a feeling that it is not what she really wants. Art has become much more important for her. Sonya started drawing when she was just a child ? the knack for drawing runs in the family. Her mother has a degree in art and in the middle of the 1980-s her work could be seen at exhibition in Manezh. Sonya says: ?Despite the fact that I kept drawing like mad, I didn?t go to an art school to learn the skill. I consulted my mum a lot, though, about how to improve something or achieve this or that effect.?? A long quest for individuality and her own theme in art came to fruition quite unexpectedly. Facing serious health problems that might have resulted in infertility, the artist realized one vitally important thing: ?I don?t have to look like a catwalk model; there is no need to be ashamed of my body. Whatever my body enables me to do, I must embrace enjoying every day of my life.? The gist of the message that Sonya tries to convey through her art is this: we are all different and beautiful in our own way.?
