About Artist:
Having been a long established artist in Sydney Australia since 1994, Vinnie has managed to sketch out a creative career path. His early working days were very sobering, as he spent 4 years working as part of a Trauma Unit team in the hospital system. His experience in life has provided him with an endless supply of highly complex visuals and a thought provoking outlook on what life has to offer. Vinnie has participated in a number of select exhibitions over the years and continues to do so when time permits, but has been far more interested in focusing his art to a place that is based on impulse and the subconscious, rather than the premeditated. He has worked with many alternative and traditional materials, which in turn provides him with many skills to add to an ever growing bag of options. He has worked with timbers, styrene, clay and stone but prefers acrylic paint and especially pencil. His love of pencils goes back to his childhood and has certainly stayed with him over the years.His art focuses on the surreal twists of the human condition, environment and mythology.
The pencil has been a big part of my life since 1978 when my parents first gifted me a small box set. It may sound a little strange but there is something very exciting and inspiring when you open that new box of pencils. It may be the smell, the look and feel, but whatever it is?it has found its way into my soul which invigorates me. It?s the perfect art tool for expressing my emotions, and for that I am ever grateful!?About Artwork:
My many years working in a hospital operating theatre exposed me to every kind of human condition and situation. I've seen humans depart this reality as we know it,as well as entering this complexity via birth
Born this way came to me after thinking about all the births I've witnessed.
It was also influenced by the racial conflicts we as humans keep throwing at each other for no real reasons, apart from fearing difference and the unknown.
I want people to realise that we are all BORN THIS WAY...essentially,and that the pigment of our skin does not define the content of person within that skin.
We are all born,breathe air,eat,sleep,laugh,cry,smile.
